In all likelihood, it’s once in a lifetime, so don’t even consider missing it.
As the evening begins to fall, we set out on a quiet night drive on the beach to seek out, but never disturb, the leatherback and loggerhead turtles returning to their birthplace to lay their eggs; later in the season, we’re able to see the hatchlings making their desperate and dangerous dash for the ocean.
Our evening expedition includes a night drive through the Eastern Shores Game Reserve, on to the beach, and – if possible – a stealthy walk on the sand. We’ve packed our own refreshments and snacks (included in the rate), so it promises to be as convivial an evening as it’s likely to be thrilling.

- Laurence
Excellent tour, with a more than excellent tour guide. He was very friendly, explained a lot, and what he is doing and why. Had a lot of empathy for all the animals in general, and for the turtles in particular. Very impressive! All in all a lifetime experience, I would happily do this again next time when I am in St. Lucia at the right time of the year. - Volker
This was an absolutely amazing experience! Guide was very professional and knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend it! - Louise
Top experience! Punctual pick-up by comfortable safari jeep (with blankets). Afterwards, an hour's drive through the dark in the iSimangaliso wetland reserve. Special experience to spot animals at night from buffalo, hippos to dwarf chameleons. Very nice and committed guide. Driving under the beautiful starry sky over an untamed beach at the edge of the sea is an indescribable activity. Unfortunately, we did not see any sea turtles (but we did see tracks and nests with eggs). Also a honey badger running away with an egg in its mouth. Tasty light snack at the far end. Beware: a very late trip !!! on return, at least half the jeep was occasionally napping. - Niels
